More Rejoicing in Heaven!

More rejoicing in heaven!

Photo at right: The officer who received Christ along with John Mugabi (pale yellow shirt) and ex-prisoners now trained to serve in prison evangelism.

It is amazing what God has done!! A long-serving officer gave his life to the Lord. The rest of the people in the photo are ex-prisoners.  They were getting their certificates after training to become volunteers. John Mugabi, July 26, 2008

I tell you…there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents… Luke 15:7

Charles and the 6 orphans–needing sponsors for 5 more children

Charles with Cindy's dad (the handsome guy on the right!)

Charles is the man whose sister died.  Her death left her 6 children orphaned, and Charles now has sole responsibility of caring for them.  Charles now lives alone with another man who is also working as a guard. They found it very difficult for his wife to stay in the same house with their 8 children.  So she lives in Jinja, a couple of hours away.

We are hoping to quickly get sponsors for all 6 children (we have one so far!).  The sponsorship money will be used for the usual things–their school fees, medical care, room and board.  But John is arranging for them to live at home with Charles and his wife in Nkumba, so the room & board portion of the sponsorship money will go to Charles.  It will amount to $162/mo, which will allow them to rent a 2-room home and leave them with $112 to feed the children.  As food costs are the same there as they are here, this is not going to make them rich…but it will be a big improvement over how they are living now.

Quick update on fundraising for the school needs

A total of $8600 has been sent so far to meet the needs of the Nkumba schools.  More details next week.  We still need $23,400 in the next several months so that the boarding section of the school will not be closed.

Road to Reality- pg 155

We need to learn to live the lifestyle that we read about in the Bible. (Luke 14)…If you are living for Christ, you don’t look at your living room and dream of what kind of furniture you can buy…I’m calling on believers everywhere to join me in a…life of simplicity that will seem crazy to many of your family members and friends.  You can live a greedy, self-indulgent life.  Or you can choose the way of the cross, living for others as Jesus did and still calls us to imitate today.

Ezekiel 16: 49  Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy.  They were haughty and did an abomination before me…
