Giving our Best

Giving our Best

In a personal e-mail, John Mugabi shared this story with us this week.  We obtained permission to share it in this e-mail…

Ever since I started serving in the prison I have been giving out things. I remember one time I gave away my would-be transport (1000 shillings)– less than a dollar, and decided to walk back home. As I was on the way, I fell in a septic tank and I had no one to help me. Despite all this, I never regretted. Since then my life has changed. John 3:16 teaches us that God gave His very best. Often times we want to do the opposite.

Sponsored Children Update

We are thankful to God that there are 82 children (mostly orphaned) in Nkumba, Uganda who are sponsored through GTN.  Listed below are 4 more who are in urgent need.  After these 4 are sponsored, there are another 6 children who were just recently orphaned.  We personally know their uncle–he was 2 years ago, and still is, the night guard at the place we stayed when we were in Uganda.  Charles is his name.  A very sweet man.  He now carries the burden of trying to provide for his sister’s 6 children.

  • Jemima Namiiro is 9 years old.  Her father has died and her mother has AIDS. (Joshua’s sister)
  • Joshua Wasswa is 10 years old.  His father has died and his mother has AIDS. (Jemima’s brother)
  • SimonPeter Bayo is 7 years old.  He is from the war-torn north.  His uncle is in prison, and people from the community brought him to Nkumba.  He is an orphan.
  • Florence Namwasi is 7 years old.  The whereabouts of her parents is unclear.  She is living with an elderly woman
